One of the lip balms I have been dying to try is the Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm. It was tested in Canadian weather conditions and is meant to soothe the driest lips of them all…
After reading tons and tons of rave reviews about this lip balm, I had to purchase it. I mean, if Lisa Eldridge likes it, then it must be good?
Nuxe is a natural French skin care brand that launched its first product in 1991, the Huile Prodigieuse. This dry oil for the face, body and hair was a major success and still is considered to be one of the best body oils out there. In 1994 they launched the Rêve de Miel lip balm: a deeply hydrating lip balm with a matte finish. According to Nuxe, at least 79,5% of the ingredients are natural and the formula is paraben-free as well. Personally, I don’t mind synthetic ingredients and parabens, but I know some of my readers obviously do.
The lip balm comes in a frosted glass jar that feels weighty and is nice to hold – it feels luxurious and looks nicely on my bedside table. I usually prefer stick lip balms over ones that are contained in a jar for hygienic reasons. However, lip balms in a jar tend to be much more moisturizing. Now, the scent is lovely, very lemon-y and orange-y, but not overpowering at all. I find it to fade pretty quickly once you have applied it – it doesn’t interfere with food, which I personally prefer.
I have never owned a lip balm before with a texture like the Rêve de Miel’s one. It’s very thick, literally comparable to beeswax. At first it feels slightly grainy on the lips, but it quickly melts and leaves you with soft lips. The concentration of ingredients like honey, shea butter and grapefruit oil ensure moisture and softness.
My lips stay hydrated for about 4 to 5 hours when using this lip balm, which is longer than I usually experience with other formulas. The BEST part about this lip balm is that it has a matte finish. I honestly dislike having shiny lips after applying lip balm and I could easily rub the whole jar on my lips and still be left with matte lips – winner! I use it a few times throughout the day and at night I tend to apply a thick layer.
If you are suffering from chapped or dry lips, I would definitely recommend this lip balm. There’s 15g of product in the jar, that will easily last you about a year. You only need a tiny amount each time for some TLC.
What’s your holy grail lip balm?
